Our Concertmaster

Concertmaster Jessica Tseng is an active Lower Mainland performer and educator.
She holds an Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto diploma in violin performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music degree in violin performance and chamber music from the University of British Columbia, and a Suzuki Certificate of Achievement for Levels 1 and 2 teacher training from the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
In addition to the Ambleside Orchestra, Jessica regularly performs with the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Island Symphony, the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, 16 Strings Vancouver, and other groups.
Jessica’s extensive competition experience includes the Canadian Music Competition, the Friends of Chamber Music Young Musicians Competition, and the UBC School of Music Concerto Competition. She has won competitions presented by the CDMF (Coquitlam District Music Festival) Performing Arts Festival, the Richmond Music Festival, the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival, and the prestigious International Fritz Kreisler Competition.
As the founder and director of the School of Talent Education, a Suzuki-based violin and viola program, Jessica believes talent is learned, not innate. Her school provides expert instruction in all instruments, along with an array of musical experiences to prepare students for a lifetime of high-level music making, regardless of their professional aspirations.
